Signs are not allowed to be placed on city road right of way under state law (Minn. Stat. 160.2715). City right of way includes public streets, bridges, medians, bike lanes, sidewalks boulevards and trails. In most cases where sidewalks are present, City right of way extends to at least the edge of the sidewalk closest to private property.
Unlawfully placed signs on city right of way will be removed and held at the Public Works Building. The Public Works Building is located at 382 Main Street South. Pick up may be coordinated by calling 507-273-9597.
